Our 3 Pillars of Action

EMPOWERING Information

We partner with libraries, ESL centers, and community centers to present workshops on:

  • Patient-physician Communication Skills

  • Health Vocabulary

  • Self-care Techniques

  • Navigating Health Insurance

We create and distribute pamphlets with tips and language to help get quality health care. These materials are available in English and several other languages. See our work below!

IMPROVING access

We collaborate with researchers and clinicians to work on methods to improve quality of care for patients with limited English proficiency.

We have trailblazed implimenting AI tools in health literacy workshops, partnering with AI startups and local organizations to create and study AI tools in the healthcare landscape

Advocating Change

Helping English language learners with their personal health literacy is only a partial solution to the larger issue of language barrier-related health inequities. That's why we are using our resources to push for long-term policies that transform healthcare delivery when language is a concern.

This has included advocating for policies that set standards for intepreter services and the availability of multi-lingual print materials, something we hope to continue to do into the future.
